Museum of Wine

In the late 1800s the Basque-French brothers David and Salvador Michel came to this sub-Andean steppe and grew special fruits. The building that houses the museum was built in 1888 and was restored as a cultural site in 1981. The visitor can come to know the beginnings of winemaking in the area and it can be seen in old machinery, elements used for the preparation of wine casks, how it is transported, documents, photographs and various objects that served to drive one of the most important activities in the northern region. Cafayate Torrontés wine stands, white, and intensely fruity aroma, a variety that three centuries ago the Jesuits brought from Spain, and is also cabernet sauvignon.
