Night Express of Nong Khia. Bangkok to Laotian Border

1 review of Night Express of Nong Khia. Bangkok to Laotian Border

Friendly overnight train experience

The Nong Khai night express from Bangkok took us to a small Thai town that borders with Laos, the great Mekong creates a natural border. Here you can find the bridge of friendship between the two countries. Of the 12/13 hours journey I know a little, with trains, planes, buses and ferries available. The second class Thai train is more than acceptable, it doesnt have separate compartments; on the left and right of the corridors beds are made, the table is removed and the upper bed folds. This lack of privacy encourages contact with other travellers. Shortly after settling into Hualampong station in Bangkok, I met Frederic, a Frenchman who worked in Beijing and was going to Vientiane to visit a friend, he was our charming beer and travel partner.
