Olde Empire Hotel

The Olde Empire Hotel is old but well situated in the heart of Kandy. Steps away from the lake and the temple of the tooth, a large option of restaurants around. It is an old colonial hotel that charges about Rs 1000 per room, depending on the number of people and the size of the room. There are many people in Sri Lanka who use it, mostly men, because women do not usually travel alone. It's better if you're not alone, because they don´t have good feelings towards independent travelers. Breakfast is included in the price and there is a nice restaurant. During the Esala Perahera festival, reservations come out to be more expensive than usual, and they do not serve alcohol, just like everywhere else in Kandy.
