3 reviews of Oristano Cathedral

Beautiful altar

Oristano Cathedral is one of the most important monuments of the Sardinian city of Orsitano. The exterior is rather plain, though the separate bell-tower with its theater masks is rather interesting. However, once you cross the great bronze doors you find an over-the-top polychrome marble staircase and an absolutely beautiful altar. I’d like to make a special mention of the beautiful Baroque chairs as well.

A cathedral that leaves its mark

While many tourists like visiting cathedrals and churches during their trip, I’m usually not of them. The Oristano Cathedral, though, is worth the visit.

It’s located in the center of Piazza Duomo and the amazing bell-tower catches your interest from first sight. The onion-shaped cupola is covered in decorations and absolutely beautiful to behold. Once you go inside, make sure to have plenty of free time to explore all of the various works of art. If you want to visit a baroque cathedral that has something unique and special, I’d defiantly recommend stopping by the Oristano Cathedral.
