Paleontological Museum of the Academy of Valdarno of Hill

1 review of Paleontological Museum of the Academy of Valdarno of Hill

Humanist

The Museo Paleontological dell'accademia valdarnese of Poggio was founded in 1804. The Academy owes its name and origin to Poggio Bracciolini, the famous humanist discoverer of manuscripts and antiquities collector who, from 1434, was surrounded by scholars and men of letters involved in learned conversation. It was after this group of humanists that the Academy was named. The permanent headquarters was the Villa of Terranova, owned by Bracciolini.
