A prison museum
La Vila de Dois Rio is one of the most visited places on the island. For years, this beach was home to a penal colony, and today the jail has been converted into a museum. The village has a small store, and most of the residents are former prisoners or former officials. If you meet one, it's really interesting to listen to their stories. The old jail has been very important, with political prisoners like Graciliano Ramos, Marighell, and more held here. To get there, take the road T14 from Vila de Abraao. In addition to the jail, the beach is worth visiting.
