La Panza Es Primero

This restaurant, right in the Chueca neighborhood, is one of the best Mexican restaurants you can go to in Madrid. It is usually packed, thanks to the nice decoration, good service and stunning quality of dishes.

I usually don't really like Mexican food because it is too fat and too little elaborated to me. In "La panza es primero" forget about this! It is not that Mexican dishes are bad, but we are more used to have what is called Mexican "fast food", very different from the flower chicken, cactus tacos or guacamole nachos you can get in this restaurant. Really delightful! The menu only has Tex-Mex food from the North of Mexico (more based on meat than in the South).

I loved the food there, very good meat, very good drinks, the place is worthy of serving Mexican food.

They serve good "raciones" making sure you are not hungry afterwards, the service is good and the people very nice.

I was liked the theme of the place very much, especially in the room all decorated with the theme of free struggle, which is very typical in Mexico. I recommend it.

One of the best Mexicans I've tried in Madrid. In fact, when I go it reminds me a lot of the Mexican food I had there in the Federal District. It is not expensive and there is a great atmosphere. Moreover, the food is great. The place is small and if you do not book it is hard to find a spot.

I went there several times and the portions are really abundant. Very good dishes: nachos or nachos with guacamole.

If you go early you have two drinks for the price of one (margaritas, daiquiris, etc.) and afterwards you can order pitchers of a liter (very grateful with spicy food).

The star dishes are the "centers" (for two) with as many wafers of warm bread as you want. To my taste the "tiras locas", the "chicken tiras" or the "spicy veal tiras" are the best. And the margaritas are fresh and delicious.
