Roatan Marine Park

I dedicate this corner to the people working in the Roatan Marine Park, for their great work in the education and awareness of the sea for tourists and locals. Contrary to what many people still believe, in coral reefs 80 percent of the oxygen necessary for life is produced. The vast majority of the planet's oxygen is not generated by forests but by coral. Some coral species take 25 years to grow 2 inches. Imagine what it would take to re-form each reef. Divers should think what it takes to recover the destroyed coral whenever they kick with fins. Please be tourist-friendly. Do not buy souvenirs made with sea products, watch your fins if you dive or snorkel, do not throw plastic, cans, cigarette butts into the sea.
