Room Virgilio

The Chamber of Virgil is currently closed allowing renovation of the Bardo Palace . The main artwork, however, that the room used to host has been moved to a small room that is attached to the Dougga Room . The Mosaic is the most important artwork in the whole museum, and it dates from the 3rd century. It was found in Hadrumetum (Sousse) and is the only known portrait of the Roman poet Virgil.
