One of the first Catholic churches in the Balkans

The Church of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic church founded in 1856 by the Vincentian mission. It is one of the first Catholic churches in the Balkans. The vice consul in Bitola agreed to build a monument known as locanda, "foreign home", aimed at the high Turkish military authorities. It was paid for by the French government.
