San Lorenzo Hill (Monte de S. Lourenço)

San Lorenzo Hill (Monte de S. Lourenço)

The hill or mountain of San Lorenzo (Sao Lourenço) is in Vila Chã. You can see the way clearly if you follow the signs to the Castro of San Lorenzo, a fortified village dating from the Iron Age found in this hill and worth visiting. The mountain is 200 meters high, overlooking the Firth of Cávado, so from the summit there are excellent views. As in many other parts of Portugal, there is a chapel at the top. I recommend you visit this mountain, taking a walk in its paths, which run through a pine forest. Every now and then you see huge, strangely shaped rocks. It's a nice place to relax and get lost and spend some time getting into nature.
