Did I want a house ottoman? In this beautiful hotel I had one. What a blast! The Ottoman houses were built two hundred years ago by families well off by the wood business. In Istanbul there were many, but they have been devastated by fires over time. Fortunately, they are trying to recover them and several have been converted into hotels, especially in Sultanahmet. But Safranbolu Ottoman houses are authentic. They have remained immune to changes over the year. The Selvili Kösk is perhaps the most impressive display. Huge, with fully carved ceilings, antique ornaments, wide plank floors with rugs wonderful, tiny windows covered with bobbin lace, the hotel is like a dollhouse.
