St. George's Cathedral in Perast

1 review of St. George's Cathedral in Perast

In the Village of Perast

This place could probably best be categorized as the best preserved baroque Adriatic ensemble, and its cathedral is perhaps one of the most prominent things among them. Built between the fifteenth and seventeenth century, the work of Venetian artist Madonna dello Scarpello, the building was erected in 1452, although most of the present building is baroque. It was built in 1632 and enlarged in 1722. Across from the cathedral there are two islands in the Bay of Kotor, one is man made and the other is not. The native also called St. George. Therefore, it is an important religious center in the area.
