This is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular trips you can take in a cable car across northern Spain, because it does it while climbing up toward Picos de Europa. From above, the view is breathtaking and if you're brave you can look down through the wire mesh, and see the huge drop beneath your feet. Besides the viewpoint, this point is the start of many routes through the mountains.
The Fuente Dé cable car gives you direct access to the heart of the Picos de Europa in the Valle de Áliva. In only five minutes, you climb 753 meters along a 1450-meter-long cable. While those figures alone are enough to induce vertigo, the ride itself is actually quite comfortable and we didn't feel nervous at all. Over the course of five minutes, you’re transported over 750 meters from the lower station to the upper one, all the while surrounded by a truly spectacular landscape. The cars can hold around 20 people and operate continuously in summer from 9 to 20hrs (10 to 18hrs. in winter). The round-trip costs €16. There are self-service restaurants in both stations.
