Tepeyac Cerrito Chapel

The Cerrito Chapel of Tepeyac is located on top of the hill of the same name and it was here, as tradition has it, that Our Lady of Guadalupe first appeared to the Indian named Juan Diego, who received a bouquet of roses that never withered, from her. The First Chapel was built in 1666, although the current was rebuilt in the year 1749 and was later enlarged. It has a very pretty Altar with the image of the Virgin and Crypt, where they worship Juan Diego. From the site where stands you can get a magnificent view of the City of Mexico.
