Frenzied activity

Near Segou, on the banks of the Niger River, there's a small village called Kalabougo, a settlement that stands out not for having unique architecture but by the frenzied activity of the women and children tht go about their day producing ceramics . Not surprisingly, Kalabougou is one of the leading providers of ceramic nearby in both the capital Segou to Bamako. Women, helped by smaller children, are dedicated all week to produce dozens of clay pots of all sizes and shapes imaginable and every Monday, neatly stacked on the deck of the pinnaces ply the waters of the Niger Ségou market direction or Bamako shops.
