Torre d'en Galmés

The ruins of this prehistoric settlement are immense. During its peak, over 900 people lived here. This small culture thrived throughout the Balearic Islands during the Iron Age, but the most interesting and complete ruins are found in Menorca.

This town is located on top of a hill and was strategic due to its ability to communicate with other similar towns and lookout towers in the area. These kinds of towers are called Talaiots. The highlight of the ruins are the “taulas,” a kind of ceremonial monument of unclear purpose, and a complex irrigation network.

This town is pretty big and still has various stone houses, cisterns, and “taulas.” You can enter the homes which still have their stone roofs intact and imagine what it was like to live there.

I’ve never seen so many stone structures in my life; it was like being in the Flintstones.

This Talaiot village is located on a hill, a perfect place to watch over your territory in that age. It was an active settlement from the early Iron Age to the Roman era.

Here, you can find three talaiots in the public area and another public area that extends to the bottom of the hill.
