Charming

…from the top of a hill, Vejer controls a beautiful green extension. It is logical to think that its inhabitants are influenced by this, so it is easy to understand that they built this beautiful town. You have to stop here for a few days to enjoy its people, gastronomy and beauty…

We climbed, descended, got lost on this beautiful and charming town and with an interesting history, like the rest of the towns called “from the Frontier” in Cadiz.

A Well Kept Secret

This fairy tale town seems as if it “escaped” from the bunch of white towns of the Sierra de Grazalema. And I say escaped because it is similar in the whiteness and beauty, although it is by itself and more to the south, on a hill 9 km from the Costa de la Luz. This town of Arab origin charms by day and makes you fall in love by night. From the peaceful square surrounded by palm trees with a fountain, Vejer, made of light and blue sky, is a labyrinth of narrow streets that go up, down, bifurcate, disappear and appear again. The whitewashed houses, some of them converted in boutique hotels and restaurants, invite you to go in and enjoy the cool of its patios, the aroma of its flowers and the silence of its siestas.

White Towns

Vejer is one of those towns in Andalucía that amaze you…the truth is that I was surprised; I didn’t expect to find such a beautiful place. It was declared historical-artistic complex in 1976.

You can tell the Muslim origin by its narrow streets and winding paths. And also in more evident traces like some arched doors, the wall…Vejer de la Frontera was occupied by Muslims for more than 5 centuries and it was called Besher. It is so nice to go up and down its streets and alleys, between the whitewashed walls that I like so much, admiring the patios full of plants and flowers, the aesthetics

A Charming Town Near Cádiz

This town in Cadiz deserves a visit, at least one morning or afternoon. It is located on a hill from where you have views of the province.

We discovered it “by mistake” while driving and seeing it from the lower part of the hill. We went to the Tourist Office and they told us that at 12 they had a guided tour along its streets. It was only 2 Euros so we tagged along. They guide explained its history and very interesting anecdotes.

A Charming White Town

Excellent

Every time I visit Cadiz I visit this beautiful town. The light of this town fills me with energy: its small whitewashed streets make the light of the sun bounce all over its corners. You will discover open gates that will give way to beautiful patios full of flowerpots that contrast with the white of the town.
