Nature Reserves in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Forest of Cap Sicié
The town of Six-Fours is surrounded by a huge forest of Sicié Cap and, thanks to the many trails that surround it, it is pretty easy to navigate. On one side of the peninsula is Gaou and other is a regional road. Both will lead you to the chapel of Our Lady of May, located at the top of the hill, 420 meters high. There is also a terrace that offers a breathtaking view of the bay of Six-Fours. If you are not strong enough to walk the entire route, you can drive part of it and park your car. From the car park, the monument is about 15 minutes walk. However, the road is closed to traffic in the summer so cyclists can speed down the winding road!
Islands in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Archipelago of Embiez
(2)
The island of Embiez belongs to the Ricard family, who fully conditioned it. You can get there from the port of Brusc by transporter, canoe or even by windsurfing. There are small coves, a wine museum, oceanographic centre with aquarium, and port on the island. There are salt marshes, vineyards and numerous palm trees as well. For hikers, there's an old tower on top of a small hill that you can climb to. There's also sailing at the sailing club, or catamaran sailing. The island also has many bars and restaurants scattered around the harbour and a hotel area if you want to stay a little longer in paradise.

Peninsula of Gaou
(2)
Gaou peninsula is at the edge of the coast road that leaves the port of Brusc. It is a public park that is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. It is protected. The wild spaces in the pine alternating blue water coves, make it a great attraction. The place is even more captivating for the sunrise, or the sunset. There are long trails and paths for jogging enthusiasts. At the entrance of the park there are many typical fishing boats with nets spread in the sun, and some gulls that fly on the hunt for fish. In some zones of the island there is no bathing, to protect the marine flora, but in others it is authorized. If the clear blue water and still has not given you reason to come, I highly recommend it.

Brusc Port
(1)
Brusc port is next to the district of the same name. It's both a marina and a fishing port. It's a typical place with many bars, restaurants, and beach retail stores. It's a very romantic place to watch the orange sunset that penetrates the masts and reflects off the water. It defines the starting point of the coastal path leading to the Gaou peninsula. You can also take a boat to the island of Embiez, famous for its turquoise water coves and large green spaces. I recommend booking an afternoon dive and exploring the ocean depths. And, if you are unfamiliar with diving, you can enjoy the most interesting attraction: a submarine with glass hull in Brusc harbor, where you can embark, when it isn't windy and the water is calm.
Cliffs in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Tip of Cap Nègre
The tip of Cap Negre Park is at the end of the Mediterranean, in the part known as "climbing". It is a place where they mix wild cliffs, cactus and fauna. From here there is a great view of the Coudoulière port, the beaches and the Mediterranean. At the end of the tip, there is an old military settlement that was constructed by Louis Philippe. The center has been converted into a museum devoted to maritime activity, as it is on the island of Embiez. It also has a section on the history, and has an exhibition hall. The entrance to the oceanographic center is worth it if you are like the history of the oean. Close to it is an old cannon deterrent. The place is very windy, but worth it.
Churches in Six-Fours-les-Plages
St. Peter's Collegiate Church
The Collegiate Church of St. Peter is at the top of a 210 meter hill. It is accessible by car and there is a parking garage. It's a nice religious and historical monument dating back to the fifth century. It was built in a Romanesque style but several Gothic architectural elements have been added to it over time. The old town of Six-Fours was also located on this hill but now nothing remains of it. Inside the church you can admire the magnificent polyptych by Louis Brea which dates back to 1520 and depicts the Virgin and Child. What caught my attention most was the gold, the organ and the human remains in a coffin that sits on a plexiglass plate. Unfortunately, it is forbidden to take pictures inside. Next to the Collegiate is the fort which you can´t visit because it is intended for military purposes. There is also an old cemetery and the ruins of the chapel of Saint-Roch. They both offer a magnificent view of the town - which is itself worth the visit.

Pépiole Chapel
(1)
Pépiole Chapel can be reached by car - parking is at the entrance. This small chapel is in an idyllic setting among olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees. The building is V or VI century (the exact date is uncertain). It is Romanesque in style but has undergone several restorations. Its architecture is very distinctive as it is composed of three naves and three apses. The stained glass is also distinctive as it is made from glass bottles: light passes through the bottle providing a colorful effect. The interior of the chapel is quite simple and creates a deep sense of stillness. On request, there is the possibility of a guided tour, or you can buy a small booklet explaining the landmark's history.
Beaches in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Bonnegrâce Beach
Bonnegrâce Beach or "Brutal Beach" is the main city beach. It is next to the Tourist Office. It is a pebble beach, surrounded by palm trees and blue water. It is equipped with toilets and shower. It is also a beach frequented by bathers. Wind lovers can enjoy windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing or paddle. At the other end of the beach there are a typical beach sports such as volleyball and beach soccer. Theme Parks in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Park of the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean park is a few minutes walk from the port of Coudoulière, but it has parking available. The port highlights the Roches Brunes beach and the sea towards the city center. This park is 7 hectares large, and is famous for its vast shady areas, its ponds with ducks and goldfish, and its great play area for children. It is divided into three zones: the pine and palm trees, which are the green zone, and the zone of rocks, forming the tip of Cap Nègre. If you go for the park tour, you will have the chance to see and admire the exotic plans. Ghere is also a sports circuit with obstacles and foals, and this is a popular spot for joggers. The park is open daily from 8am - 10pm during the summer from 1 to August 31, from 8am - 6pm from November 1 to March 31, and from 8am - 8pm the rest of the year.
Surfing in Six-Fours-les-Plages
Nautical Base
This nautical base groups together 5 associations, each with its specialty. They offer rentals, private lessons or group courses and courses for beginners or advanced. The club also offers intensive training to prepare for competitions. You can go sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or even "stand up paddle," which is to stand on a surfboard using a stick to paddle along. I recommend going to the Charmettes beach, near the port of Brusc, 5 minutes drive from the Tourist Office. On a good day you can sail to Embiez. Feel free to stop for a snack or enjoy a swim in one of its coves. Who would not be tempted to dive into the sea with the water so blue?
