Well worth the 2 euros

There are numerous cave houses dotted around the Sassi which paint a portrait of life before the Italian government moved the inhabitants to modern apartment blocks. A cave house is a single open living space with areas set aside for eating, sleeping and keeping animals. Due to the elaborate system of cisterns the caves had running water but the only source of light was from a window above the door. In the caves a constant temperature of 15 degrees centigrade is maintained which is advantageous when summer temperatures can exceed 40 degrees. It is well worth the 2 euros to see Bruna furtively watching
