An interesting historic site
La Puerta de San Antonio is the second entry of importance to gain access to the walled city of Almeida, with similar characteristics to the San Francisco Gate, although more monumental. It was constructed in the seventeenth century by Jerome design Azecebo Velho.
It is a double door, one on the outside and one on the inside, which run under the fortification of San Antonio. They are joined by a vaulted tunnel, inside which is the Casa de la Guardia. Its perfect construction, which is actually bombproof, and its excellent current condition, provide a unique aesthetic appeal to the whole
