Ship Cove

Ship Cove, at the end of Queen Charlotte Track, was the favorite spot for James Cook on his three voyages of exploration in New Zealand. He spent 170 days in the bay between the first trip of 1770 and the last in February 1777. Cook was considered a safe haven with fresh water, timber and fish, as well as getting to know the Maori community.
