Iona Address

1 review of War Memorial

A somber tribute

I was surprised during my walks on the island of Iona, a tiny island near Mull in the Atlantic Ocean, just off the coast of Scotland, to see the number of names on the memorial to the islanders who lost their lives during the two world wars. Indeed, this small island, with just 125 inhabitants today, seems to have taken a heavy toll in both wars, and the monument now stands facing the sea, a permanent reminder of the tragedies of the past.
