A little more than 1 km of Praia da Luz, Lagos, is this hotel which has really beautiful villas, most with large balconies overlooking the pool and gardens. The area, I have to say, is quiet and away from the crowds of the cities but has all the comforts of a four star hotel. Spacious rooms with telephone, TV. Mini fridge, hairdryer and a large terrace with a nice outdoor pool, also a great buffet breakfast. The place was certainly very full due to the large influx of tourists, especially English. You can dine when you want at an average price of 12 euros per person. Very close to this hotel is the popular beach resort of Luz and about 5 kilometers from Lagos, there are plenty of other small beaches that are well worth a visit as they all great - there is even a nudist beach.
On Sunday, before leaving Miranda, I took the car to visit the Santa Lucia on the outskirts of town, where I found the [poi = 89822]indoor and outdoor swimming pools [/ poi] and campsite. You park your car and have a chance to see some camping facilities. It is listed as Category 2, and is only open in summer (from June 1 to September 30). I went in August and still saw many tents. It has an area of 17,000 m2 and a total of 150 plots. Besides having shops, there is also an area for RVs. There was good shade under the pines, but the ground seemed very hard and dry, devoid of any grass, so I guess it's a bit difficult to anchor the tents. There was a booth at the entrance, a reception area, a bar-cafe, and toilets (with hot showers). Well, it is an economical choice of accommodation, but keep in mind that you need to use the car to go to downtown.
This campground is just outside Chaves (4 km), on the Ctra EN2 in the direction of Vidago and Vila Nova. It is quite large (35,000 m2) and has all the services according to their ranking of 1 Category (toilets with hot showers, bar restaurant, electrical outlets, sinks, washing machine, BBQ, public telephone and a computer with internet, playground ...). In addition to camping with tents, there is a large area for caravans, since it is the headquarters of Camping and caravanning Club de Chaves, and you can also rent wooden bungalows. It has lots of trees so there is plenty of shade, but as a result, the soil is quite dry and hard, almost no grass, so it's a little difficult to set up the tent. It has outdoor pools, but they are in the camping grounds, as they are also public use (public swimming pools are Chaves). Around the perimeter of the campgrounds you can find nature trails. Campsite reception hours: 8-13h and 15-20h.
The only campgrounds in the city can be found in this enclosure on top of the [poi = 117418] Penha Mountain [/ poi], which is surrounded by woods and trails. It's a shady mountain campsite, but the base is rocky granite terrain. It has a camping area with shops and other campers. It also boasts an outdoor pool, toilets and shower booths (free hot water), picnic area with barbecues and small mountain house with kitchen and TV room that can be rented for a minimum of 6 people. Only open from May 1 to September 15.
During our stay in Estoril, we went in order to see MotoGP, we chose bungalows in a campsite called Costa da Caparica, about 20 minutes from Lisbon (that is without traffic) and they are really affordable, I remember it cost us about 15 euros per night per person. The bungalows are usually for 5 people, 3 single beds and one double, and truthfully the mattress is very comfortable- they are those which have no springs and let you fall asleep really easily. I will also comment that it is a very quiet area and they have car parking right next to the cottage.
