The Hotel Adlon is a legendary hotel in Berlin. It is located in Paris Plaza, at the end of the prestigious Unter Den Linden. The first Hotel Adlon was built in 1907 in the original place of the Redern Palace. Lorenz Adlon was a businessman and his hotel became one of the most famous men in Europe before World War II. Charlie Chaplin and Marlene Dietrich stayed there and since it stands right next to the American, French, Russian and English Embassies, it was a favorite place for journalists too. It remained open during the war and served as a military hospital but it burned down in 1945. What they rebuilt it in 1997 after the reunification of the two countries, it was a great success. Its greatest publicity was perhaps when Michael Jackson almost dropped his son out of the window!

The Westin Grand Hotel Berlin is situated on Friedrichstraße, at the corner of Unter den Linden. Friedrichstraße is one of the most exclusive streets of the city and ends with the Check Point Charlie (a point of interest) and the wall museum. It's a 5-star hotel with 400 newly renovated rooms, some with views of Unter den Linden and the beautiful linden trees, all rooms are very luxurious and the central hall recalls the golden age of this district before WWII. Rooms cost 150-450 euros/night, the cheaper ones are on the opposite side of Unter Den Linden. There's a gym, sauna and even an indoor pool and luxury stores are just down the street.

We decided to stay at this hostel for 2 reasons. 1st because of its proximity to a metro stop from which you can move very easily anywhere, and also you can walk. as it's in a good area. 2nd for the price, its a kind of university residence with room for up to 6 people, with private bathroom and locked and well heated rooms and breakfast is included. If you go with children maybe it's not what you're looking for, but the rest is great and at a great price.
The Arte Luise Kunst Hotel is a modern art museum in itself and has gone from a place with elements of crisis, to modernity. We speak of communism and the subsequent evolution along with its art, art that we see in this hotel, which is a treasure of originality! It's a place you have to visit and find out about if going to Berlin.
