It’s impossible to go to Old Madrid without trying some of the famous “starry eggs” in Casa Lucio. Something of an institution, this popular restaurant in the heart of La Latina prepares their eggs according to a secret recipe which transforms the simple plate into something sophisticated and exquisite.
Casa Lucio is one of the most iconic restaurants in Madrid. It’s famous for the magnificent huevos estrellados (“starry eggs”), although this isn’t the restaurant’s best dish (but it’s close). I’d recommend the onion soup and any meat dish, all of which are top-quality.
The service is excellent and, once you enter, you realize the amount of history this place has seen. Many historic and famous people have eaten here and many seats have the names of their famous former occupants engraved on them.
The prices aren’t outrageous, but it is a famous restaurant, so it isn’t cheap either. It’s appropriate for a special occasion or a once-off treat.
It’s famous for its “starry eggs,” but the best thing on the menu is the meat. A great place without a doubt. One of the best!!!
