Chaxa Lagoon

A little over 50 km from San Pedro de Atacama, near the village of Toconao and within the Salar de Atacama, you can find this lagoon. It's surrounded by a layer of salt up to 70 inches deep. Without a doubt, the stars the area are the pink flamingos (Chilean, James's and Andean) which nest here. It is usually one of the places chosen by tourists watch the sunset (not that impressive).
