Djémila

This Roman city (also called Cuicul) is located in a mountainous area and is surrounded by an extraordinary landscape of great beauty. It is in Wilaya which is a province of Setif and is considered one of the top three colonies in Roman Algeria. In this city you can find the remains of several buildings, including the forum which is the centrepiece of this complex and a Roman temple dedicated to the gods Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. There is also a basilica, a market and some houses. Other major buildings are the temples and triumphal arches, showing the influence of Christianity in two churches that are paved with mosaics and even retain their baptisteries.
