Very nice herbariums

The Dudley Herbarium and California Academy of Sciences Herbarium, is located in San Francisco. The Department of Botany was founded as part of the Academy of Natural Sciences in 1853. The early herbarium (now CAS) includes specimens collected by Dr. Albert Kellogg, a physician and one of the founders of the Academy. In the next fifty years, Kellogg's collections were increased by the collections of Dr. John Allen Veatch, Dr. Hans Herman Behr (author of flora, first from San Francisco), William GW Harford, Dr. Gustav Eisen, Dr. Katherine Layne Brandegee Curran and Miss Alice Eastwood.
