1 review of Duffus Castle

An ownerless castle

Excellent

These lovely castle remains is an example of a structure of great historical significance. It was abandoned by the local and national authorities in Scotland. The visit is free and without control, which continues to be amazing considering the fact that it is a castle. The 1st thing that grabs our attention is the location, on a hill, which shows that its construction should be dated to the 10th-11th centuries. 2nd, it is interesting as a part of fort is seperated and moved to the main building. It looks like it was cut down and thrown a few feet away. Historically it was the strength of the Cheyne family, noble house in Scotland from Flanders to David I granted the land and the castle was built first of wood and finally stone (which remains today).
