1 review of Ullswater Lake

Highly recommended

Some of the best views of Pooley Bridge can be found from the path that runs from St Paul's Church along the River Eamont to the north shore of one of the most important bodies of water in the Lake District, Ullswater. Well-signposted and recommended by locals, the walk begins beside the church, past an interesting Victorian bus stop. You enter a forest, after which you'll find a small pier where you can rent a motorboat or rowboat to explore the lake. We did that a few years ago, and it really is beautiful.

After about fifteen minutes' walk, with the gentle sound of the water in the background, we spotted some red squirrels then reached the shore of the lake, where you have great views of the water and the mountains.
