The Golden Gate National Recreational Area (San Francisco) is one of the largest urban parks in the world, with almost 76,000 hectares of land and water. Locted 28 miles from the Golden Gate, it includes Alcatraz, Marin Headlands, Nike Missile Site, Fort Mason, and Muir Woods National Monument, and Fort Point National Historic Site.
