Holbox Island is a true Caribbean treasure located in the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, a heavenly crossroads between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. Mawimbi has been built and decorated with special attention to detail, respecting the colors and forms of nature and using techniques and products of traditional Mexican and Guatemalan crafts akin to the ancient Mayan culture. The curtains, blankets and cushions are made of old Guatemala ponchos, while the bathrooms are decorated with colorful Mexican Talavera. The tables and chairs have been hand carved.
