From the city of Merida (Yucatan), our Mexican friend took us to see the Chicxulub crater. At first glance, it looks like a wasteland, a vast expanse of nothing, but it really holds great mysteries for natural history and evolution lovers. This depression is where a huge asteroid impacted Earth 62 million a few years. The fall of this meteorite had to have produced a massive explosion and caused tremendous changes throughout the biosphere. Some scientists say it could be responsible for the mass extinctions of species that characterizes the end of the secondary era. This meteorite could be the main cause for the extinction of dinosaurs, which allowed for subsequent expansion of birds and mammals and the evolution of life as we know it.
