1 review of Charles Kingsley's House

A quiet part of the city

Historian, novelist, rector of the church, and college professor, Charles Kingsley was also guardian of the Prince of Wales, was not born in Chester but in Holne, Devon. From 1870 until 1873 he was canon of Chester Cathedral, and during this time he founded the Society of Natural Sciences, Arts and Literature, the forerunner to the Grosvenor Museum. You can see his old home by the cathedral, and it is one of the quietest parts of the city.
