4 reviews of La Cotinière Port

Port Cotiniere

Much like a flock of seagulls fill the blue coastal sky, thirty small boats are anchored in this charming port on Oleron island. Many boats are daily loaded with fish, shrimps, gray and pink, (popularly known as "Oleron Shrimp"). Between the baskets and nets you will also see flounder, crabs and lobsters which are then sold on at the noisy fish market. On the dune overlooking the port stands the 1967 quaint Mariners chapel. Here people would come to pray for sailors who were out at sea for long periods of time. The road continues through the Wild Coast dunes, via La Remigeasse and later runs through the depths of the pine forest.
