Lake Issyk-Kul

Lake Issyk-Kul is one of the great tourist attractions of Kyrgyzstan. It is the second largest mountain lake in the world. It occupies a very large area, and from most of the lake, you can catch a glimpse of the stunning mountains (often snow-capped). As in the rest of the country, the best way to get there is by bus or shared taxi starting out from Bishkek. Most of these will take between 3-4 hours, to Cholpon, for example.
