1 review of Mogador Islands

Considered a Nature Reserve

Excellent

The Mogador islands are located right in front of the Steps of Port , which is less than 1 mile away from the harbor and it's a true panoramic view the sea lapping at the coast and the cliffs. These islands were discovered by the Carthaginians who took rich treasures from its coasts, which were coveted by kings and monarchs, which turned out to be nothing more than a purple dye extracted from one variety of sea snail, which is why these islands were known popularly as "the purple islands." These days there is no way to access the island and its been declared a nature preserve and you can still see the remains of the fortress and two prisons that were there.
