Monument to Vasques Calafate

In the square of the same name, opposite the Port Authority and next to the Grand Casino is this monument that represents Vasques Calafate, professor and journalist of Poveiro of the late nineteenth century. The author of this sculpture was his own son, architect Rui Calafate, and was commissioned by the fishermen of the city.
