Palace of Viscounts of Portalegre

2 reviews of Palace of Viscounts of Portalegre

Owned by the Viscount of Portalegre

The building, which is now the seat of the Civil Government, was owned by the Viscount of Portalegre. It's clearly Renaissance, 1743, with a symmetrical facade with beveled glass windows of great harmony and beauty. In the late nineteenth century ownership passed to the Civil Government for the District of Castelo Branco. Inside is a splendid music room and an oil painting of one of the former owners.
