Palazzo Comunale

This fortified building with a fourteenth century 54 meter high tower was built mainly in the eighth century. Inside, it has a small, covered courtyard, and in the Council Chamber, Dante made a speech in 1300. It hosts Siena era frescoes from the fourteenth century. The building houses the Civic Museum, which presents abundant Florentine and Sienese works from the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Among the works is an excellent Annunciation by Filippino Lippi, as well as works by Taddeo di bartoldo, Pinturicchio and Gozzoli.
