Puerta de Tierra

At the other end of 59th Street in front Sea Gate, is the Puerta de Tierra. Built in 1732, this gate provided the main access to the walled city of Campeche from the inside. The Puerta de Tierra opens its gates in a thick section of wall with loopholes. It is protected by a moat, which means the city is defensible at all angles. Do not miss their sound and light show "The place of the sun", an historical representation of a battle between pirates and those dwelling inside. From Thursday to Sunday at 20pm, attending the show costs 50 pesos per person.
