Santa María de la Asunción Church

At the top of the Puebla Vieja, dominating the town of Laredo, is the church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in the thirteenth century with later additions. This church is often described as one of the most important Gothic structures in Spain. It altarpiece of "The Virgin of Bethlehem", a XV century work, has been described as "the most beautiful sculpture of flamenco in Cantabria".
