Staupasteinn

Staupasteinn, the wine glass, is an isolated rock on the southern slope of Skeidhóli. It is known by various names: Prestur (the priest), Stedji (anvil), í Karlinn Skeidhóli (Skeidhóli man) but most people know it with the name of the wine glass. The rock and the surrounding area were named a national monument in 1974. To get to Akranes we headed down highway 47 that goes around the fjord called Hvalfjördur. To find it, leave the road. The detour is clearly marked.
