A historical monument not to be missed
Often overlooked in favor of the more well-known castles of Dover and Deal, the Walmer Castle is a historical monument not to be missed. Located in Kent right between the other two, you can even visit without diverting from your route. It dates to the time of Henry VIII and was built around the 1540's. The particularly imposing central tower, four surrounding towers and moat are quite impressive. It costs 6.7 pounds to visit but it's worth it, especially since you'll get a wonderful view of beautiful gardens surrounding it.
