Temple famous for refusing Olympic torch

This temple became famous for refusing to host the Olympic torch last year when it passed through. The monks refused to protest the brutality exercised by the Chinese authorities on Tibetan people. For this reason in the temple, which was declared national treasure of Japan, was painted, made to have impact on the news. I took advantage of a trip to Nagano to stop by, and I had a nice surprise. The temple is old and large which is accessed by a street of shops and souvenirs. Outside the temple there are six huge statues of gods who are said to care for the souls of the people in which they count as six different worlds, look at you, as if we had not just one lot.
