On the way to Pelourinho is the restaurant - Senac school. It specializes in Bahian food, is open daily and offers 2 types of menus: Food a la carte or buffet. The difference is 10 reales and both options are tasty but the buffet offers a big variety of fish and meat to choose from. Among them is the specialty of the region: Muqueca fish.

Restaurante Paraíso Tropical

This restaurant is located in the same neighborhood where I lived for thirty years, the popular neighborhood of El Salvador, known as Cabula, at Edgar Loureiro 98B. The owner started very small and now this is one of the most popular restaurants in Salvador de Bahia. It is visited by famous people such as artists, singers, and everyday people. The secret is that this restaurant offers exotic cuisine like grilled seafood and tangerine juice to make your mouth water. Excellent service, value, and atmosphere, on top of the quality of the dishes served.

Rancho do Cuscuz
(4)
Couscous is only made in the northeast, with cornmeal, salt and a little water. It's served with eggs, milk and butter, or can be fried. It's the lifeblood of the local community, and this restaurant is a great spot for trying this specialty. This small restaurant has become famous for serving the dish with different toppings: with five cheeses, with chicken, or even sweet dishes like couscous with bananas! Well worth visiting to taste the delicacies.

Restaurante Yemanjá

When I arrived in Salvador, I started by asking the taxi driver for some advice, the kinds of tips that only locals know ... and he told me about this restaurant. It opened in the 1960's, and has been in the same location since 1974. Decorated like a fishing shack, it has a great menu ... crabs, cod balls, fish stew ... try the dish of the day, which is always fresh and delicious. The prices are quite reasonable: they offer starter, main course, drink and coffee, all for about 150 reais for 2 people.

Acarajé da Cira

Before going to Salvador, I read some blogs to see comments from other tourists ... and I saw a lot of good reviews about the Cira Acaraj, so of course, I had to try! I'm not a specialist, but it is really nice, crispy and delicious! You can order it with or without shrimp, or pepper ... Recommended

Caranguejo de Sergipe
Delicious food in Northeast Brazil. I tried the shrimp moqueca (stew with shrimp, coconut milk, cilantro, onion, tomato and lemon juice), and caldinho of sururu (soup with mussels), two great classics of Bahian cuisine, and they were delicious. Another dish is the beef do sol (sun dried meat, like a little dry and tough steaks). The service is fast, prices not too expensive, and high quality food. Highly recommended.

SOHO Restaurante
(1)
SoHo restaurant is in the nautical Marina Bay complex which is very large and really lovely, which has famous architecture by David Bastos and which has been remodeled by Sig Bergamin. In view of the Bay of All Saints, the restaurant has a glass floor that allows you to see the sea :) I had a very good dish wrapped in foil and on fire. Great good, beautiful people, and a charming place. Worth a visit!

Bar e Lanchonete Mare Alta
This bar, in Barra Grande Beach, features a sun terrace, in addition to good music (difficult to find here). You can enjoy a caipirinha, garlic prawns, and all the typical food of Bahia ... the best place to eat and enjoy the beach, with a great view of the bay!

This restaurant is inspired by a coastal town called "Vila Pereira", where today the district of Barra in Salvador is located. Pereira restaurant, which opened in 2009, specializes in fish and meat, with a menu of the most sophisticated and delicious food known. It has a cellar of fine wines of coveted origin, and a full restaurant menu. On Saturdays, a delicious 'feijoada' is served. In the city of Salvador, you can enjoy Bahian food. The choices are dominated by seafood. This site is popular with locals, offering fine northeastern cuisine. The food is simple but tasty, and is a good option for a traveler on a budget. Be sure to try the evening porridge with meat and cheese curds! You can see rustic decor, with straw artifacts, calico banners and sculptures in clay. A great place to visit!

Kentefrio

The Kentefrio is a bit no-frills, but it has a delicious shrimp empanada and other snacks. It's stood for about thirty years, and is an interesting stop in the historical centre. A good stop in the middle of the morning or afternoon.

Cafés in Salvador
John John Café
The Cafe John John almost goes unnoticed by pedestrians who pass through the United States Avenue (close to the port of Salvador and market model). It has a quality variety of dishes that are prepared by the chef, and various cakes that will make your mouth water. The best option for lunch is definitely the shrimp stew that is very well served with rice, farofa and pyro and style of Baha (with or without pepper to taste of the client). In this cafe there's also pies, sweet and savory, and its very nice, cozy with wireless network.
Restaurants in Salvador
Al Carmo
Al Carmo restaurant is a very good option for those who want to eat well in Salvador. Besides serving for romantic occasions, you can go with friends or have a business meeting. The restaurant has a magnificent view of the Elevafor Lacerda and All Saint's Bay. The rustic decor by candlelight gives a fully intimate atmosphere. The variety is great with a Perfect noodle dish with octopus (hmmm!). There are many options to drink including domestic and imported wines. For dessert we recommend ginger ice cream, but it burns like pepper (laughs) Where? On Rua do Carmo, 42 Salvador de Bahia.
Culinary Interest in Salvador
Museum of Gastronomy of Bahia
Did you know there is a museum that can make you salivate? This museum of Bahian cuisine, is in the heart of Pelourinho, opposite the place where the singer Michael Jackson filmed with the band Olodum. Certainly, if I could, I'd recommend the singer to come and taste the museum restaurant dishes. In this museum Senac, there are many traditional Bahian dishes, and best thing of all is the price. It's open every day, however, the schedule for serving meals throughout the day, is at specific times. An optimal option for tourists to know Bahian cuisine, its spices, utensils and chat with local chefs.
