This small restaurant is situated in the "Pavilhão do mar" of Ponta Delgada. Here one can try good Italian food at a good price. Situated right on the water's edge, along with many other restaurants with terraces and ice cream parlors, cafes and more. Cool place to take a walk and enjoy a good meal, dinner or just look at the sea. Very good atmosphere.
This was the indicated place to eat in the island of the Azores. Local food (fish and seafood) that is very well prepared. Do not compare it with what is already known. Ask for advice from the waiter. Very good soups, shrimp (camarão), cod (bacalhau) or cabrarroca (black mouth). White wine is from the area (dry, Frei Gigante).
This is a great restaurant right at the end of the street called Rua Sao Joao, one of the central streets of Angra. It is simple, cheap, unpretentious, comfortable as at home, and highly recommended. The service is attentive, friendly and familiar. They cook fresh fish, meats and other typical local dishes, the size of the portions is around € 6-10. Do not miss the cheese, butter and bread as hosting, how in most restaurants in the Azores would repeat twice as many without hesitation. Very tasty steak house with cream and mushroom sauce, mashed vegetables rich (they call it soup) for the ridiculous price of € 1. And of course imperative Regional Alcatra two quintessential dish of the island, served in a large pot of boiling quietly eating four. Simply delicious, but requires subsequent nap ... I was already always too full to order dessert, but I know that the desserts don't cost more than 2 euros and 50 cents. In Angra, it is the best value restaurant. :) If I am pretty sure that it is open from 12h to 15h and from 18h to 23h.
It's not easy to find a vegetarian restaurant in the Azores, as everything revolves around fish, great seafood and beef (which graze freely on the green meadows). Rotas restaurant has great personality and moderate prices, so it's always busy. You can eat a la carte or a set menu which is usually very good, I had carrot cream soup and a crunchy vegetable quiche - delicious.
The cuisine offered on the promenade of Ponta Delgada is varied. Bars, restaurants and terraces are found in the Jardim do Petisco area. You can try the local cuisine. We chose this bar on the premises of the Solmar Avenida Center to enjoy the views from the seafront. There's a terrace on the seafront which is called Avenida Infante Dom Henrique. The whole façade is full of such places with indoor and outdoor bars. We chose a salad that's always good, a bit of very good seafood, squid and small desserts recommended by the girl who took our order. We were not disappointed at all. It's a great place for tapas in an unbeatable location in Ponta Delgada. We also were surprised because the price was not high considering the area. Rather, I dare say, economical. A varied menu, but seafood stands out. Although this ads to the bill it is not a bad choice considering we are in the harbor, so the fish at least should be pretty fresh. The Jardim do Petisco is recommended if you visit the capital of the island of Sao Miguel.
A gastronomic paradise in lovely surroundings. You can enjoy a wonderful meal of high quality by the ocean. The professional service makes you feel very comfortable. They care about the selection of ingredients. Without a doubt, an obligatory visit if you have the luck to visit the Azores.
