César Manrique built here an extraordinary viewpoint, like the rest of his works in the other islands; it blends with the surroundings and it is almost impossible to see it from a distance.
The restaurant is very good, with great views and very good local food. The viewpoint is 700 meters above sea level in a cliff called Tibataje; the Mirador de la Peña offers a panoramic view of the western coast of the island, completely volcanic.
Even thought the main reason that people come here is because of the views of Mirador de la Peña, made by César Manrique, the restaurant is a beautiful place and it has a great variety of local dishes. We ordered a selection of dishes that included cheese with “mojo” (a typical sauce), smoked cheese with honey, potatoes with “mojo”, and then I had a marinera fish that was delicious. For dessert I ordered a “bienmesabe” (made with egg, almonds, sugar and lemon) with vanilla ice cream.
Cute place, excellent service. They had no menu; the chef tells you what they are serving. The food is exquisite. The chef is very friendly and interested in the customer.
Price: about 30 Euros per person. I highly recommend it. Wifi available.
