Historic Centre of Recife

Recife is the capital of Pernambuco. A city of contrasts, skyscrapers and wide avenues contrasting with beautiful colonial buildings. Called the "Venice of Brazil" because it has several canals and bridges over rivers and Capiberibe Beberibe. Said to resemble Amsterdam, since in the 17th century the city was controlled by the Dutch. The part I like is closest to the harbor and rivers, with rows of Portuguese colonial buildings on the banks. What I thought was a very safe city, I visited on a Sunday morning, and the colonial part was practically deserted, with dozens of homeless people sleeping in the streets and cars whizzing through the streets with unsavory characters inside. I recommend going on a weekday where everyday activity means tourists and visitors can go unnoticed.

Beaches of the Coastal South of Pernambuco
(18)
Pernambuco has some amazing beaches. In Tupi Indian language, Pernambuco means "where the sea bursts." It´s a small state located in the Northeast Brazilian region, north of Bahia and south of Natal. It´s a holiday destination that is very appreciated by the Spanish. The southern coast of Pernambuco is a succession of beaches - most of which are empty. The main tourist spot, the beach of ¨porto de Galinhas¨ is located 55 kilometers south of the state capital, Recife. From the town of Porto, there´s a series of incredibly beautiful beaches which include Maracaipe, Serrambi, Toquinho, Guadalupe and, especially beautiful, "Carneiros" which is the most impressive of all. Pernambuco is worth a visit.

Recife Museum of the Train Central Station
(3)
Recife Central Station was opened in 1888, and until 1972 took traveller to Limoeiro. Since then it's been the Train Museum of Recife, with old locomotives houses and expository material related to trains. I spent a good time looking at old photos, train drivers' uniforms, lighting and communication systems, maintenance equipment, and diesel locomotives, electric and steam. As in Principe Pio in Madrid, part of the station is used by the Metro.

Fishing Boat
(1)
During a stay in Recife not long ago, due to an alternative way to work, I found a little fishing village. I asked the driver to stop so I could photograph it, and it was the photo of my trip.
